He was driving a stolen car from Germany to Poland. He was drunk.
On October 29, border guards in Kostrzyn nad Odrą stopped a Seat driven by a 52-year-old Ukrainian. The vehicle showed signs of theft, including a damaged ignition and a broken rear window. During the inspection, German license plates and registration documents were found in the trunk, confirming the car was stolen in Germany days earlier. The driver claimed he was only transporting the vehicle for a fee of 500 PLN but could not identify its owner. Police later found he had nearly two promiles of alcohol in his breath. The car's value was estimated at around 65,000 PLN. The man faces up to five years in prison for theft-related charges.
