Tears, hugs, and relief. People from occupied Olešky escaped from hell, they are back in Ukraine
Residents of Olešky, a city occupied by Russia, have returned to Ukraine after months of survival without food, electricity, or water. Their evacuation was facilitated by a humanitarian ceasefire, with the involvement of Melania Trump. Four planes transported evacuees to Gomel, Belarus, from where they traveled by bus to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed their safe return. Despite the dire conditions, some residents chose to remain, while Russia offered humanitarian aid to those who stayed. The evacuation route was complicated due to destroyed bridges and mined areas, requiring a lengthy detour through Russia and Belarus. The ceasefire, which began early Tuesday, is set to expire soon, and its success has been linked to diplomatic negotiations involving both warring parties and the U.S. government.
