Fatally struck a man and fled. A Ukrainian citizen arrested at the border

On Friday evening, authorities were alerted to a tragic discovery in the Augustów district, where a 46-year-old man's body was found on the road. Initial investigations suggested he had been hit by a car whose driver fled the scene. Police quickly identified the vehicle and driver, leading to a nationwide alert. The following day, a 41-year-old Ukrainian man was apprehended at a border crossing in Podkarpackie while attempting to leave Poland. He was handed over to the investigating officers and charged with causing a fatal traffic accident, facing up to 20 years in prison.
