The Chamber of Deputies sent the budget to the second reading. The deficit is set to increase to 386 billion crowns.

The Czech Parliament approved the basic parameters of the state budget for next year, with a projected deficit increase from 310 to 386 billion crowns. Proposed revenues are set to rise by 80.8 billion to 2.199 trillion crowns, while expenditures will increase by 156.8 billion to 2.585 trillion crowns. The opposition's attempts to return the budget for revision were unsuccessful. The first reading of the budget lasted 19.5 hours, during which Finance Minister Alena Schillerová accused the opposition of obstruction, a claim denied by Deputy Speaker Jan Skopeček. The budget's basic parameters cannot be altered at this stage, and discussions will now focus on individual budget chapters.
