Snow in the Tatra Mountains. Beware, it is treacherous
On Tuesday morning, snow cover on Kasprowy Wierch reached 24 cm with temperatures dropping to -4°C. The Tatra National Park warns that hiking conditions in higher areas are difficult due to ice and fresh snow, making the terrain slippery and treacherous. A total of 25 cm of fresh snow fell in the Tatras, and the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service (TOPR) issued a low avalanche risk warning. They emphasize that hiking in these conditions requires experience and proper equipment, as slipping can lead to serious injuries or fatalities. Snow deposits may vary locally due to wind, and warming temperatures could lead to wet or slippery snow.
