Survey: Nearly 7 in 10 Poles want liberalization of abortion laws
In Poland, abortion was legal under three circumstances until 2020, but a Constitutional Tribunal ruling restricted it to two cases. The ruling led to widespread protests and calls for liberalization from current governing parties. In 2024, a proposal to decriminalize abortion was rejected, while two new laws were passed allowing abortion in cases of severe fetal defects. A recent survey shows that 67.2% of Poles support some form of liberalization of abortion laws, with higher support among women and younger individuals.
