The burned church has been transformed into residential homes. A micro-neighborhood instead of ruins.

After the Julianakerk church in Rotterdam was nearly destroyed by fire, architects from HA-HA Design & Development transformed the site into a residential complex named JUUL. Built on the original church's foundations, JUUL consists of four homes that blend historical elements with modern design. The project preserved the remaining brick walls and foundations, integrating them into the new construction while using environmentally friendly materials. The design features wooden structures and solar panels, creating a sustainable living space. A tower reminiscent of the original church was also recreated, serving as a memory for local residents. The area is landscaped with greenery, symbolizing the past fire's impact.
