Spain introduces paid leave for women suffering from menopause symptoms
The Spanish government has decided to introduce paid sick leave for women suffering from menopause symptoms, effective December 1. Women with a medical diagnosis can take leave if menopause symptoms temporarily hinder their work. Minister Elma Saiz emphasized the government's response to previously overlooked situations. Unlike traditional sick leave, which pays from the fourth day, this leave starts from the second day of absence. Employees will receive 60% of their contribution base for the first 20 days, increasing to 75% from the 21st day. Spain previously introduced menstrual leave, becoming the first in Europe to do so.
