Rail worker killed in train accident in Essen, colleague seriously injured

A railway worker died and another was seriously injured in Essen, Germany, after being struck by a high-speed train while working on the tracks. The incident occurred with six workers present, possibly involved in tree trimming. Emergency services responded shortly after 11 PM, finding one worker deceased and requiring a fire department lift to transport the injured colleague. Investigations are ongoing to determine how the train was operating during maintenance. The affected track remained closed, causing delays for travelers, although one of three tracks has reopened. This incident follows a similar tragedy in North Rhine-Westphalia earlier this year, where two workers lost their lives during track work.
