On October 28, a court in Starogard Gdański placed a 50-year-old German citizen, Paweł K., under a three-month arrest after he caused a head-on collision while intoxicated. With a blood alcohol level of 1.7, he crashed into a truck on the A1 highway, injuring a passenger in his vehicle. Prosecutor Mariusz Duszyński reported that the incident occurred at the 65th kilometer of the highway near Kamionka. Paweł K. initially hit the barriers separating the lanes under repair before veering into oncoming traffic and colliding with a correctly driven Mercedes. Both the passenger and driver of the car were hospitalized. He faces charges of deliberately violating safety rules and causing an accident while intoxicated, which could lead to a prison sentence of up to 4 years and 6 months.
