On Wednesday, President Petr Pavel will award state honors to 51 individuals, three more than last year. The ceremony will take place in the Vladislav Hall at Prague Castle on the anniversary of Czechoslovakia's independence. Pavel noted that he receives around 900 nominations annually, making the selection process challenging. This year, approximately 2,000 guests were invited, with around 640 able to attend the ceremony. Previous presidents had varying numbers of honorees, with Miloš Zeman awarding 394 during his tenure and Václav Havel giving over 400 honors between 1995 and 2002.
