Status holders want to get to work: 'Don't sit at home and hold out my hand'

A job fair in Rotterdam attracted around eighty refugees and asylum seekers, aiming to connect them with employers. Participants, including Ahmad from Afghanistan and Haithem from Iraq, expressed their eagerness to find work despite language barriers. Tent Nederland organized the event, which saw major companies hiring thousands of refugees last year. Approximately 30-40% of job fair attendees secure employment, with efforts to encourage employers to relax language requirements. Many attendees, like Zainab from Syria, are motivated to work and improve their Dutch skills. The fair fostered positive interactions between job seekers and employers, highlighting the importance of motivation in the hiring process.
