More and more people continue to work after their retirement
In the first quarter of 2018, 1.2% of employees were over retirement age, with men more likely to continue working than women. The real estate and transport sectors have higher percentages of older workers, while public administration and IT have the lowest. By the second quarter of 2026, 2.3% of men and 1.1% of women were still employed past retirement age. Despite the gradual increase in retirement age to 67 since 2013, the number of working retirees has risen by 0.5 percentage points since early 2018. About half of retirees switching jobs moved to different sectors, while younger workers under 25 frequently change jobs. Most older workers retire, with only 9% of those over retirement age taking new jobs in different sectors.
