Same scenario, tons of spoiled food. Hackers attack stores across Europe
Supermarkets in Belgium and Luxembourg are facing issues with refrigeration due to a cyberattack affecting chains like Ahold Delhaize and Carrefour. The attack, which began around midnight, involved hackers remotely switching freezers to defrost mode, raising internal temperatures. Similar incidents have occurred in Sweden, impacting Ica and Coop chains. The Swedish Cybersecurity Center is investigating, and the attack is linked to a previous incident in France that disrupted hundreds of stores. Ahold Delhaize previously reported a cyberattack that led to the shutdown of its shopping apps, with ongoing issues in the Czech Republic. The overall costs of these attacks could reach tens of millions of euros.
