Support from the House of Representatives for the budget for roads, locks, and bridges

A majority in the Tweede Kamer is expected to support the budget for the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, despite financial constraints. Coalition and opposition parties, including JA21, SGP, and CU, agree on prioritizing the maintenance of existing infrastructure over new projects. Minister Karremans and State Secretary Bertram received praise for their approach, focusing on outdated bridges and roads, with 18 billion euros allocated for maintenance. However, planned new projects will be postponed. Parties are seeking adjustments to the budget, but funding remains a challenge. Other ministerial budgets are also likely to gain majority support, except for the contentious Tax Plan 2027.
