Steve Witkoff met with Vladimir Putin. Russia released a US citizen

Putin expressed gratitude to the U.S. for efforts to end the war and showed interest in rebuilding economic relations. He inquired about Witkoff's discussions in Norway. Reports emerged that U.S. citizen Stephen Hubbard was at Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg. Putin informed Witkoff that Hubbard could return to the U.S. with him. Trump had previously requested Hubbard's release, who was detained in Russia in 2022 and sentenced to nearly seven years in prison for fighting as a mercenary on Ukraine's side.
