Storms Austen and Boelo leave cliffs up to 1.2 meters high behind on the beach of Blankenberge and Middelkerke
After autumn storms Austen and Boelo, cliffs up to 1.2 meters high have formed on the beaches of Blankenberge and Middelkerke. The Maritime Service and Coast (MDK) is using machinery to break them down. The storms, which occurred on October 23 and 24, caused significant erosion, creating steep sand walls along the coastline. These cliffs pose a danger to walkers due to their hidden edges. MDK plans to level the cliffs before the autumn holiday to ensure safety.
