The Forest Guard checks decorations near cemeteries. Fines up to 500 PLN

At the end of October and beginning of November, the demand for spruce branches for grave decorations increases, leading to a rise in illegal logging. The national campaign "Stroisz 2026" aims to combat this issue by monitoring forests and sales at cemeteries. Forest inspectors emphasize that unauthorized removal of branches harms ecosystems and can lead to significant penalties. Legal spruce is sourced from plantations or managed forest care activities, with sellers required to provide documentation. Authorities urge consumers to choose legally sourced decorations and avoid taking materials from the forest without permission.
