Student Josephine (21) from Knokke wins an award with 'StudyBuddy' for students with dyslexia and dysphasia

Josephine Bouwens, a 21-year-old student from Knokke, developed 'StudyBuddy', a chatbot designed to assist students with language disorders like dyslexia. This tool helps learners practice their lessons by asking questions and providing feedback without judgment. Josephine, who has dyslexia herself, created this project for her bachelor's thesis at PXL University in Hasselt and received a special merit award for it. Initial tests with 14 students showed that most found studying more enjoyable and felt more motivated. Josephine plans to further develop the chatbot and conduct larger-scale tests to improve its effectiveness.
