Medical students from UHasselt honor body donors with homemade flower arrangements: "Essential for our education"

Medical and biomedical students at Hasselt University gathered to honor body donors by creating floral arrangements placed at memorials. Annually, around 100 to 120 individuals pledge their bodies for scientific study, with about 40 actually donated. Professor Leen Popleu emphasized the importance of body donors in anatomical education. The floral tributes were laid at three locations of a monument titled Corpus, designed by Frits Jeuris, which symbolizes the human form. Despite advancements in virtual reality, hands-on experience remains invaluable for students. The project also prompted personal reflections among students about future body donation.
