Student list wins elections in Serbia, autocrat Vucic defeated
The newly formed Studentska Lista party won 51% of the votes in Serbia's elections, defeating the ruling SNS party led by President Vucic, who acknowledged his loss. This victory follows two years of protests against corruption, initiated by students after a tragic incident in Novi Sad. Despite facing repression and lacking a charismatic leader, the Studentska Lista, composed of inexperienced experts and professors, managed to mobilize support for change. The election was seen as a referendum on Vucic's regime, with the Studentska Lista emphasizing anti-corruption as their main theme. Vucic's party received 40% of the votes, and the Studentska Lista secured a majority in parliament, marking a significant political shift in Serbia.
