Hackers sent false messages to the Ukrainian population about radiation danger and chemical attacks
On Sunday evening, the Ukrainian air raid alert app was hacked, sending false messages to the public. Shortly after, Russia reported a cyberattack, but it remains unclear if the incidents are connected. The false alerts began around 10:45 PM in Ukraine, warning of radiation danger in Kyiv. An hour later, a message was sent to cancel the previous alerts. Oleksander Merezhko, head of Ukraine's parliamentary foreign affairs committee, noted that the attack did not cause panic, as people are accustomed to frequent alerts. The messages were in Russian, raising suspicion. Russia's emergency ministry reported receiving emails with false information, including warnings of nuclear strikes from a Ukrainian spy group.
