A serious hacker attack hit Binance, stealing billions of dollars worth of cryptocurrency

Hackers stole $6.3 billion worth of cryptocurrency from Binance, the largest exchange in the world. Binance reported that half of the stolen assets were frozen with the help of other platforms and assured users that their funds are safe. They temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while conducting security checks and involved law enforcement to track and recover the funds. The breach occurred through a compromised laptop of an engineer, allowing unauthorized transactions. Analysts noted the unprecedented scale of the hack, with a cybersecurity firm attributing the attack to a North Korean elite hacker group, linking it to a previous incident involving Bybit.
