Drought increasingly dangerous. Warnings from IMGW, drying reservoirs and dire forecasts
Poland faces a severe hydrological crisis with record low water levels in reservoirs, particularly in southern regions. The Dobczyce Reservoir, crucial for Krakow's drinking water, has dropped significantly, now holding about 65 million cubic meters compared to nearly 100 million last year. While water supply for Krakow is currently secure, surrounding areas are experiencing shortages. Experts warn that prolonged drought conditions are becoming a year-round issue, emphasizing the importance of retention reservoirs for regional water security. Without changes in weather patterns, the situation may worsen, necessitating better water management.
