Sytze Faber (89), former CDA member of parliament and journalist, has passed away
Sytze Faber, a former CDA member of the Dutch Parliament and journalist, passed away at the age of 89 in Leeuwarden. He grew up in a Reformed environment and studied political science, later becoming a member of the Tweede Kamer in 1977. Faber was known for his independent views within the CDA and often deviated from party lines, notably opposing the placement of American missiles in the Netherlands. After serving as a member of Parliament until 1985, he became the mayor of Hoogeveen, where he faced a controversy in 1988 but retained his position until 1998. He later returned to journalism, writing columns and a book about political developments in The Hague. His family announced his death in an obituary.
