Sytze Faber, former CDA member of parliament and 'dissident' within his party, has passed away
Sytze Faber, a former CDA politician and independent thinker, passed away at the age of 89. He served in the Dutch Parliament from 1977 to 1985, initially representing the Anti-Revolutionary Party before it merged into the CDA. Known for his leftist views, Faber often voted against party lines and was involved in significant political debates, including the placement of cruise missiles. He also worked as a political editor for the Friesch Dagblad and served as mayor of Hoogeveen for twelve years. His early experiences during World War II shaped his perspective on democracy's fragility. Faber remained active in writing until last year.
