Szalay-Bobrovniczky reported significantly more soldiers to NATO than were actually present
Significant discrepancies have emerged in the Hungarian Army's reported numbers to NATO, necessitating corrections by the Tisza government. During Kristóf Szalay-Borbrovniczky's tenure in 2023, 20,100 personnel were reported, but the current defense ministry led by Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi has revised this figure to 17,600, a 12.4% decrease. This adjustment reflects a notable reduction in military personnel, attributed to previous government reforms and the transfer of the Military Hospital to the Ministry of Interior, impacting overall staffing levels.
