The Iváncsa battery factory was fined HUF 100 million for contaminating underground waters
The Iváncsa battery factory, operated by SK On Hungary Kft., has been fined 100 million HUF for contaminating groundwater and violating environmental regulations. Minister Gajdos announced the immediate suspension of the polluting pipelines and required the company to create an action plan to prevent further violations. The company has also been added to a public registry of environmental offenders, prohibiting it from receiving state support for two years. This is the second 100 million HUF fine for SK On Hungary, following a similar penalty for worker safety violations. Recent layoffs at the factory have raised concerns among employees about potential further job cuts, which the company attributed to current business conditions.
