"Particularly serious guilt." Neo-Nazi sought early release from prison
Beate Zschaepe will remain in prison until at least 2035 after the Munich Higher Regional Court denied her request for early release. The court ruled that Zschaepe, sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018 for her role in the NSU terrorist group, must serve a minimum of 24 years. The NSU, active from 2000 to 2011, was responsible for ten murders, primarily targeting immigrants. Zschaepe's involvement included arson to destroy evidence after her accomplices' suicides. Despite showing behavioral improvements, the court emphasized her severe guilt, which precludes early release. The prosecution sought a 25-year minimum sentence, and the ruling is not yet final.
