Schools like fortresses: Half of Poles want gates at entrances. Survey by "Rzeczpospolita"
Two weeks ago, two terrorist attacks occurred in schools, leading to increased police surveillance and the detention of around 200 teenagers for various offenses. A survey revealed that 52.4% of respondents support installing metal detectors in schools, while 39.2% oppose it. Supporters mainly include opposition voters and those with right-wing views. The Ministry of Education has not mandated such installations, although some local governments have taken action. Experts argue that schools should not become fortresses and emphasize the need for emotional and social education instead of relying solely on security measures. They advocate for professional support in schools to address underlying issues rather than implementing extreme security solutions.
