Hospitals under the scrutiny of the NFZ. New obligation starting in November

The Polish government is implementing changes in the healthcare system, requiring facilities to report medical staff attendance to the National Health Fund monthly. This aims to enhance resource monitoring and public spending oversight. The first report is due by December 20, 2026. Additionally, the government is considering salary and work hour limits for doctors, which has faced opposition from some healthcare leaders who argue it could harm smaller facilities. They propose local adjustments to these limits based on regional needs. The push for salary caps follows a scandal involving a hospital coordinator who reportedly earned 1.6 million PLN during his specialization.
