The NATO bank is being born, but Hungary has not yet joined.

A new bank focused on defense financing, the Defense, Security, and Resilience Bank (DSRB), has been introduced in Hungary. It aims to provide low-interest loans to governments and defense projects while attracting private capital. Although independent, it is informally referred to as the 'NATO bank.' The initiative follows NATO's commitment to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035. The DSRB is supported by Deutsche Bank and ING, addressing the need for financing in the defense sector. Hungary has reduced its planned loan from the EU SAFE program from €16.2 billion to €5.4 billion, reflecting a shift in defense financing strategies in Europe. The DSRB's participation is open to various countries, but Hungary has not joined yet, as it may not need additional funding at this time.
