The Russian army suspends its siege of Oleski
The Russian army has suspended the siege of Oleski in Kherson region to prepare for a humanitarian operation, as announced by the Russian defense ministry. The ceasefire agreement was mediated by Melanie Trump. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov expressed hope that Ukraine will adhere to the agreement. The ceasefire allows civilians time to evacuate, which may take several days. Russian human rights commissioner Jana Lantratova emphasized that evacuations must be voluntary. Oleski has been under siege for months, with around 2,000 people trapped and food supplies cut off for an extended period. Ukrainian forces delivered four tons of food to the isolated city using cargo drones at the end of September.
