Thailand will wait longer with the 1000 baht tax for tourists
Thailand has suspended a proposed exit tax for travelers, including tourists and expats, due to economic concerns and rising energy prices. The tax, initially set at 1,000 baht per person, was to be collected by airlines or travel agencies. The government has not announced a new implementation date, as it aims to assess the economic situation further. Additionally, a separate entry fee of 450 baht for foreign tourists is being considered. The finance minister noted that hosting the IMF and World Bank meetings in 2026 has positively impacted Thailand's international image, and tourism is expected to remain strong despite rising operational costs for airlines.
