This is how Ozempic changes liver condition. There are new research results.
A recent study published in "The New England Journal of Medicine" reveals that semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist, shows promise in treating metabolic dysfunction-related fatty liver disease. The clinical trial involved 1197 participants, with results after 72 weeks indicating significant improvements in liver inflammation and fibrosis compared to placebo. Notably, 62.9% of those on semaglutide experienced resolution of liver inflammation without worsening fibrosis, and participants also lost an average of 10.5% of their initial body weight. While the findings are encouraging, researchers emphasize that the study is ongoing and full results will be available after the complete 240-week trial period.
