Personalized plates, requests from March 1, 2027. Here are all the costs

Starting March 1, 2027, drivers can request personalized license plates in Italy. This initiative, announced by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, allows owners to choose their own combinations of letters and numbers. The personalized plates will remain with the owner, even if they sell or deregister their vehicle. Costs vary: businesses will pay €10,000 until May 31, 2027, dropping to €5,000 afterward, while individuals will pay €1,000 initially and €500 later. Additional fees for production and a surcharge for the Ministry of Infrastructure will apply, with specifics to be determined within 60 days of the law's enactment. The Civil Motorization will ensure requested combinations are unique before issuing the plates within 30 days.
