Zoltán Tarr explained why NER institutions are included in the budget
The Hungarian National Museum's Central Collection is still included in next year's budget despite plans for its dissolution, as details are not finalized. Minister Zoltán Tarr explained that the center will regain autonomy by January 1, 2027, but its budget is set to increase from 11 billion to 14.2 billion HUF. He attributed the slow transformation of cultural institutions to legal compliance and emphasized the need for thorough evaluations before any closures. Criticism arose from professional organizations regarding the budget's continuity of previous funding patterns and lack of proper consultation. Additionally, the increase in funding for the Hungarian Academy of Arts sparked dissatisfaction, as its budget is determined by the Finance Ministry after consultations, not by the Academy itself.
