The leadership of HUN-REN has departed

Gulyás Balázs's term as president of HUN-REN ends, with Stipsicz András taking over. Stipsicz aims to create a supportive environment for researchers and plans to reform outdated evaluation systems. The research network was separated from the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2019, leading to protests regarding research independence. Gulyás, a noted neurobiologist, faced criticism during his leadership. The Ministry of Science and Technology is working on legislation to reintegrate the network under the Academy, potentially restoring its previous structure.
