Setback for the cabinet: farmers' organizations dissatisfied after discussion about nitrogen
The Dutch Agrarian Youth Contact (NAJK) and the Agricultural and Horticultural Organization (LTO) have expressed dissatisfaction with the government's nitrogen plans, stating there is insufficient progress. They are not negotiating but suggesting improvements, while the government retains decision-making power. The LTO and NAJK's discontent poses challenges for the cabinet, especially as young farmers are central to its agricultural vision. The organizations disagree with proposed cow norms and zoning regulations around vulnerable nature areas, advocating for a reduced zone of 250 meters instead of the suggested 1,000 meters. Further discussions with the cabinet are expected soon.
