Winter turn: it may snow next week

The weather during the long weekend in Hungary was quite variable due to two cold fronts bringing significant rainfall. Following the departure of the second front, a winter-like shift is expected with temperatures dropping below average and potential snowfall next week. Meteorologist László Molnár notes that the polar vortex is weakening, which is unusual as it is collapsing earlier than in previous years. This will lead to colder air from the north replacing the milder western flow. In the coming days, temperatures will be around 12-17 degrees Celsius with some light rain possible. However, significant snowfall is unlikely in lowland areas, as the cold air from Siberia is much colder than a month ago. The persistent north-northeast flow suggests a longer-term cold weather pattern ahead.
