Storms. Two dead and 800 thousand homes without electricity

The storms Boelo and Austen have caused two fatalities and left around 800,000 homes without electricity in the UK. A 60-year-old man died in southwest Scotland when a tree fell on a road, while a 20-year-old man was killed in London when a tree struck his car. The storms brought winds exceeding 100 km/h, leading to an orange weather alert in several regions. At the peak, 838,700 homes experienced power outages, with 90,600 still without power by Sunday evening. Transport services were severely disrupted, with train lines flooded and flights diverted or canceled. The Met Office advised residents to secure loose items and stay indoors, while several events were canceled due to the severe weather.
