Temse abolishes terrace tax in winter: "Support local hospitality extra"
In Temse, horeca businesses will no longer pay taxes for winter terraces, a move aimed at supporting local establishments and enhancing the town's atmosphere. Previously, terraces were free only from April to September, with winter usage incurring a tax. The municipality believes open terraces foster social interaction and boost the local economy. Local Economy Alderman Bart Van Geyt emphasized the importance of terraces for community engagement. Business owners, like Stefaan from The Falcon, expressed satisfaction with the decision, highlighting the positive impact on customers who enjoy outdoor seating even in winter.
