Terna begins laying the submarine cables of the power line between Calabria and Sicily
Terna has begun installing underwater cables for the "Bolano-Annunziata" power line, enhancing electricity exchange between Sicily and Calabria. The project, managed by Prysmian, will increase capacity by 2,000 MW and introduce innovative 380 kV AC cables with XLPE insulation. The installation involves three cables, each about 7.5 km long, with the first already completed. The project will strengthen existing connections and improve the integration of renewable energy. Additionally, underground connections to substations in Messina and Villa San Giovanni are underway.
