The new UK-EU food produce deal – explained
The UK and EU have finalized a deal to ease food export regulations, set to be announced on November 20. This agreement allows exports of fresh meat, fish, and other products without extensive paperwork, benefiting Scottish producers. A youth mobility scheme for travelers aged 18-30 is also in the works. The deal aims to restore a variety of fresh produce in UK supermarkets and reintroduce EU pet passports. While it reduces checks on goods to Northern Ireland, some regulations remain, particularly on excise goods. The food deal is expected to be implemented by early 2028, pending UK legislation.
