Thousands of European troops to rehearse Ukraine deployment in event of peace

Britain and France will lead a military exercise involving nearly 3,000 troops from 12 European nations to prepare for a potential deployment to Ukraine following a peace agreement. The exercise, named Exercise Koalicja, will take place in Poland and aims to test the multinational force's readiness to support Ukraine without engaging in offensive operations. While the US is involved in discussions, it will not contribute troops. Russia has opposed the presence of foreign troops in Ukraine, labeling them as legitimate targets. The exercise will focus on logistics and command coordination among participating nations, with the UK contributing 300 troops and RAF Typhoons. The final structure of the force remains uncertain, depending on future political decisions and the situation on the ground.
