Dozens of churches register with Action Shelter to accommodate status holders

In the Netherlands, numerous churches have volunteered to temporarily house refugees with residency permits, responding to a call from the national church community. Currently, twenty churches are preparing accommodations, while an additional forty are considering participation. This initiative aims to provide a smoother transition for refugees awaiting permanent housing, allowing them to stay in church facilities for up to three months. The effort also seeks to alleviate overcrowding in asylum centers, which struggle to accommodate new arrivals due to housing shortages. The Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA) is involved in ensuring that refugees can move to permanent housing after their stay.
