Tires doubled private jet traffic since 2019
The Cascais Municipal Aerodrome in Tires has seen private jet movements double since 2019, reaching a record 2,500 movements by 2025. This increase was highlighted during the inauguration of a new control tower, built with an investment of over eight million euros from the Cascais municipality and NAV Portugal. The tower, nearly 30 meters tall, is equipped with advanced operational technology, including ATIS and TWRATM systems. The growth at the aerodrome is part of a broader strategy to enhance infrastructure capacity in Greater Lisbon, alleviating congestion at Lisbon Airport. Plans for further investments include a new passenger terminal and road access improvements. The municipality aims to attract aviation-related technology companies and enhance pilot training opportunities.
