The Győr Court of Appeal increased the prison sentence of a man to 25 years for assaulting a ten-year-old girl just ten days after his release. The man, who had previously visited a cemetery in the village, attacked the girl on February 26, 2026, taking her to a nearby forest where he sexually assaulted her and attempted to strangle her. The girl managed to call for help, leading her father and the village mayor to find them using a tracking app on her phone. Initially sentenced to 20 years for attempted murder and other crimes, the prosecution sought a harsher penalty, resulting in the increased sentence.
