"It's strange." Ukrainian deputy responds to Sikorski's decision and the UPA incident
Radosław Sikorski has submitted a request to declare Lviv councilor S. Szeremeta an undesirable person in Poland due to his ties to the Galizien Waffen-SS and his proposal to commemorate R. Szuchewycz in 2027. Szeremeta responded, calling the decision strange, noting that similar resolutions have been made before. He emphasized that the Lviv council's decision aims to honor Ukrainian freedom fighters and is not anti-Polish. Szeremeta also mentioned that restrictions on his entry to Poland could hinder Ukrainian-Polish memorial cooperation. He suggested that the decision might relate to recent discoveries of graves of Ukrainian civilians killed during WWII, indicating a complex historical narrative between Poland and Ukraine regarding UPA and its leaders.
