The largest Polish city without a railway. The tender heralds changes

The Polish government announced a tender for the reconstruction of the railway connection from Jastrzębie-Zdrój to Katowice, with an estimated cost of 270 million PLN. The project aims to reduce travel time to 60 minutes by 2030, with plans for a high-speed line to further decrease it to 35 minutes. The construction will involve nearly 9 kilometers of track and complex engineering works. The project is part of the Kolej Plus program, with funding split between PKP PLK and local governments. This initiative is expected to significantly enhance regional transport and is seen as a major development for local residents.
